The 5-Star Savoy Resort & Spa hotel has opened its doors directly on the heavenly Beau Vallon Beach in the Seychelles

  • New opening of the 5-star Savoy Resort & Spa on Mahé, the Seychelles’ main island
  • The 6,300-m² hotel site beckons with 163 modern and elegant rooms, a business conference centre, two restaurants, a beach bar and a diverse wellness and sport programme
  • The Savoy, surrounded by forested hills and with direct access to the dreamy Beau Vallon Beach, offers its guests a unique and unforgettable stay under the palm trees

Mahé, Seychelles, 28th May 2014 After many months of planning and construction, the hotel operators are pleased with the results: The Savoy Resort and Spa on Mahé has opened its doors directly on to the Indian Ocean.

The Savoy has a remarkable, spacious wellness area; with six individual suites, three double suites for couples’ treatments, two Thai/shiatsu rooms and a Russian steam sauna. A team of qualified beauty and wellness experts attend to the spa guests, offering a diverse treatment programme focussed on beauty and relaxation. On offer are 13 different massages, ranging from classic to Asian and ayurvedic massage. The resort also accommodates a Russian steam sauna and has an enormous pool – at 700 m², the largest in the Seychelles – and for sports enthusiasts, the fitness centre is open 24 hours a day.

Room prices begin at 520 Euros per overnight stay for a double room and range from a Savoy room to one of the Junior/Savoy suites. The rooms start at 40 m² with the largest at 200 m², all are stylish and comfortable and include state-of-the-art technology. The interiors hark back to the clean lines and design of the 1920s and also reflect the traditional, local architecture, which was influenced by the English and French colonial times. The Savoy and its generous, 355 m² conference centre also covers the MICE- and business-travel area. The conference centre can accommodate up to 300 participants.

Whether your stay is for business or pleasure, the Savoy has two first-class restaurants to tickle the taste buds of its guests, offering the best in international and local cuisine. The Pescado is the signature restaurant overlooking the pool where dishes range from fresh seafood to fondue and extraordinary desserts. The Grand Savoy offers the very best local and international cuisine and uses only premium ingredients. Tropical smoothies, a huge selection of long drinks and cocktails, and homemade sangria are served at the Gecko Beach bar.

“We are very happy to be able to present a first-class resort and luxury accommodation experience. We can hardly wait to greet the world with the Savoy’s inimitable hospitality,” says Stefan Mengert, head of sales and marketing at the Savoy Resort & Spa.

Finally, the Savoy Resort & Spa is blessed with its fantastic location. The Beau Vallon Beach is one of the most attractive beaches in the whole world and also the longest beach on the Seychelles. The picturesque bay will enthral visitors with its fine, white sand and azure water. The beach directly in front of the Savoy is particularly unique because of its long, flat slope into the water. It is known as the most beautiful stretch of the Beau Vallon Beach – a paradise not only for swimmers, divers and sun-worshippers, but also lovers who want to tie the knot under palms.

Savoy Resort & Spa
The five-star Savoy Resort & Spa is located on the famous Beau Vallon Beach on the Seychelles’ island, Mahé. Altogether, the guests have their choice of 163 modern and comfortable rooms and suites on five floors, as well as a modern conference centre. What makes the Savoy Resort & Spa special is the unique location directly on the white-sand beach with a breath taking view of the Indian Ocean. Since May 2014 the Savoy Resort & Spa is part of the Preferred Hotel Group and with this is officially a very extraordinary independent hotel in a very desirable destination. WGSN Global Fashion Awards 2014 opens for entry

London: 21 May 2014

New focus on breakthrough talent and innovation as well as a new venue revealed for 2014 event

WGSN has announced its Global Fashion Awards 2014 are now open for entry and has revealed the location and date for this year’s ceremony; 13 November 2014, Saatchi Gallery London.

Now in their fifth year the awards, staged by the world’s leading trend and style forecaster, celebrate and reward “what’s new and what’s next” in fashion on a global basis. Categories range from best design talent through to best new retail concept and digital innovation.

New awards for 2014 include the breakthrough designer categories (in Menswear, Womenswear and Footwear & Accessories), Best Digital Innovation, as well as Best New Retail Concept. The awards will continue to recognise excellence in design across a range of specialist categories from Womenswear to Kidswear, Sports/Activewear and Intimates & Swim, while a new category for Best Design Collaboration has been added.

“We are sharpening the focus on innovation and newness this year. We really want the awards to be a true global showcase of the most inspiring examples of boundary-shifting fashion and retail design,” said WGSN Global Fashion Awards director, Lauretta Roberts. “We also want these awards to reflect the best that fashion has to offer from the mass-market through to high-end luxury as that is what makes our event truly unique.”

Once again WGSN will be bringing one of its key autumn “Macro Trends” to life at the event. This year’s theme is “Rendering Reality”, which explores what it is real or genuine and how we manipulate images through filters and other deconstruction techniques. Attendees can expect to be submerged into a 360-degree experience of this trend from the event production to the food and even the smell.

“Saatchi Gallery is the perfect location for bringing this trend to life and for holding such a premium event,” added Roberts. “It is a very grand setting, surrounded by inspiring retail, but inside it is a modern blank canvas against which we can literally project our creative direction. It is also one of the world’s most celebrated homes of innovative contemporary art, which feels very fitting.”

Entry to the WGSN Global Fashion Awards is free of charge and the awards are open to all fashion businesses and designers, large and small, across the global. This year’s entry deadline is 20 June 2014 and entries should be submitted via the official website at www.globalfashionawards.com

The awards will be judged by an elite panel of global experts in the fields of design, retail, digital, styling and writing. This year’s panel will be announced next month. Past winners of the WGSN Global Fashion Awards include Nicholas Kirkwood, Acne, NET-A-PORTER, & Other Stories, Sweaty Betty, Princesse Tam Tam, Tsvetnoy Central Market, G-Star and Gandy’s Flip Flops.

WGSN is proud to welcome back its loyal sponsors Lycra®, Avery Dennison, iSKO and Catrice Cosmetics who will each present awards at the ceremony.
