Vanessa Lachey: I ‘Don’t Speak Up’ With Maks Chmerkovskiy

Vanessa Lachey is happy to sit back and learn from Dancing With the Stars pro partner Maks Chmerkovskiy. “I just know that when I’m on set he’s my coach and I’m the student, so I listen a lot more and I don’t speak up as much because this is a field I don’t know,” Lachey, 36, told Us Weekly exclusively on Tuesday, October 3, after attending the L.O.L Surprise Party in Hollywood the weekend before. “He’s trained me and taught me so many amazing wonderful new things just like any trainer would or teacher would.”

The former TRL VJ quipped: “But at home I think I’m a lot more outspoken!”

As previously reported, the partners have reportedly had tension on set of the ABC competition series. “There is a lot of fighting going on behind the scenes,” a source recently told Us. “Their personalities are very similar so they disagree about everything. They refuse to give into one another.” The pro mysteriously skipped out on the show’s Monday, October 2, episode due to a “personal issue,” but tweeted the next day that he was excited to get back onto the dance floor with Lachey.

However, competing against husband Nick Lachey, (the singer is partnered with Chmerkovskiy’s wife, Peta Murgatroyd) has only helped the couple’s romance when they leave the ballroom. “Our relationship is still the same if not stronger,” Vanessa told Us. “We’ve been together for 11 years now, so through this we’re supporting each other and it’s fun to come home to somebody who understands what you’re going through.”

“It’s been an amazing experience,” the TV personality continued. “At the end of it all I hope we can have a killer dance routine to embarrass our kids at every single school function!”

Still, the grueling routines have taken a toll on the couple. “It’s definitely harder than we expected because not only is there a physical element to it, but there’s an emotional element to it,” Vanessa explained. “You definitely are giving a lot of yourself. I realize that this is the most vulnerable I’ve ever been both physically and emotionally. But it’s an amazing experience for me to learn more about myself as a woman a mother, a wife and a friend.”

Jason Aldean Cancels Concerts After Las Vegas Shooting

Jason Aldean has canceled three concerts in the wake of the shootings that took place during his performance at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas on Sunday, October 1.

“As a result of what happened in Las Vegas this week, we have decided to cancel this upcoming weekend’s shows,” the country crooner, 40, told Us Weekly in a statement about his shows in Los Angels, San Diego and Anaheim. “I feel like out of respect for the victims, their families and our fans, it is the right thing to do. It has been an emotional time for everyone involved this week, so we plan to take some time to mourn the ones we have lost and be close with our family and friends.”

As previously reported, gunman Stephen Paddock opened fire on a crowd of more than 22,000 festival attendees, killing more than 59 people and injuring more than 500 others, in what has become the most deadly mass shooting in modern U.S history. Aldean was performing his final song when Paddock began firing from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. Moments later, the “Dirt Road Anthem” singer ran off the stage to safety.

“Our plan is to resume the tour the following week in Tulsa, Oklahoma,” Aldeancontinued. “Our first time back onstage will be a very tough and emotional thing for us, but we will all get through it together and honor the people we lost by doing the only thing we know how to do — play our songs for them. I hope everyone understands why we can’t play this weekend and I’m sorry if anyone is disappointed.”

The Grammy nominee concluded his statement by expressing his gratitude to those who have supported him in aftermath of the attacks. “I want to say thank you for the outpouring of love from my friends and fans we have received over the last couple days,” he added. “You guys have no idea how much you have helped get us through this tough time.”

A source exclusively told Us Weekly on Monday, October 1, that the “Night Train” songster and his wife, Brittany Kerr, are “still in shock” over the shootings.

Another insider shared with Us that the country star ducked for cover after fleeing the stage amid the chaos. “Jason’s band and crew hid behind the equipment once they realized what was happening,” the pal said. “The band’s bus was also in line of fire and has bullet holes.”

Refunds for Aldean’s canceled shows are available at the point of purchase.

A Minute With: Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling on ‘Blade Runner 2049’

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – The long-awaited sequel to the cult classic “Blade Runner,” a 1982 sci-fi thriller, finally hits movie theaters on Friday.

But there is not much that stars Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling can say about “Blade Runner 2049,” for fear of revealing major plot spoilers.

Ford, who reprises his role as an older Rick Deckard, and Gosling as a new ‘blade runner’ Officer K, told Reuters that the film offers a glimpse into the potential impact of a rapidly changing climate and an increasingly isolated society reliant on technology.

This interview has been edited for length and clarity.

Q: The first film touched upon the future or what they envisaged the world to be. Now we’re 30 years on, what elements does this film address which you think will resonate with audiences today?

Gosling: “Overpopulation, global warming, being isolated by technology.”

Cast members Ryan Gosling (L), Ana de Armas (C) and Harrison Ford (R) attend a photocall for the film “Blade Runner 2049” in Paris, France, September 20, 2017. REUTERS/Charles Platiau

Ford: “Social inequity.”

Gosling: “The false narratives we create about large groups of people in order to make ourselves feel better about how awful their circumstances are.”

Ford: “The necessity to have a moral structure into which to pour what’s possible and to make judgments about what we use and what we don’t use.”

Q: How would you say this film pushes forward messages about humanity that weren’t covered in the first one?

Ford: Well I would just quibble with the word ‘message’ because it’s an experiential opportunity because you discover your relationship to the ideas in the context of an emotional geography so I think as an audience, it has an opportunity to engage you in a way that is pretty rare.

Q: How did you go about playing your character with ambiguity as it is not always known who is a human and who is a Replicant?

Ford: I don’t think there’s a style to the acting necessarily. There is so much new information coming at you as a character and as an audience that you just want to be still and make sure that you’re reading this right, that you really know what’s going on so the characters are constantly in the midst of a dilemma that is like drinking out of a gardening hose. There is so much happening to them that it’s close to overwhelming for them.

Alex Rodriguez’s Daughters ‘Look Up’ to Jennifer Lopez

It’s a family affair! Alex Rodriguez doesn’t play coy when it comes to his relationship with superstar Jennifer Lopez — and his daughters are just as smitten. During his Monday, October 1, appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, A-Rod told the late-night host that his girls now think he’s a “hero” … and it isn’t because of his lengthy baseball accomplishments.

When Kimmel asked him who was most excited when they found out he was dating Lopez, 48, he responded, “Honestly? My daughters. They think they went to heaven,” gushed the 42-year-old former baseball star about his two daughters, Natasha,12, and Ella, 9. “Now they’re hanging out with Jennifer backstage. They’re dancing. They’re singing with her.”

Sharing custody of his girls with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis, Rodriguez says he’ll “take anything he can get from his girls”— even if that means they FaceTime him just to talk to his better half. “Now they call three, four, five times … they’re looking around … where’s Jennifer?”

And as for the Shades of Blue actress’ two children, twins Max and Emme, with ex-husband Marc Anthony, well, they look up to A-Rod. Literally. “I think Jennifer’s children — who are wonderful just like mine — I think they’re impressed with how big I am,” the 6-foot-3-inch athlete says. “I don’t think they’ve ever seen anyone so tall.”. “I don’t think they’ve ever seen anyone so tall.”

This isn’t the first time Rodriguez mentioned his daughters’ admiration for the singer since they began dating earlier this year. ln September, Rodriguez told Us exclusively that his daughters look up to Lopez. “Their role model is Jen and how diverse she is in terms of the arts and her career.”

Kim Cattrall Slams Sarah Jessica Parker Over ’SATC 3’ Comments

No more cosmos in their future. Kim Cattrall opened up about Sex and the City 3 and called out former costar Sarah Jessica Parker for comments the latter made about the demise of the third film.

The Mannequin actress, 61, elaborated on her side of the story during a new sit down interview with Piers Morgan for his ITV show, Life Stories, on Monday, October 2. “And now, now at this very moment, it’s quite extraordinary to get any kind of negative press about something that I’ve ben saying for almost a year of ‘no’ that I’m demanding or a diva,” the Golden Globe winner explained. “And this is really where I take to task the people from Sex and the City and specifically Sarah Jessica Parker in that I think she could have been nicer.”

“I really think she could have been nicer,” Cattrall continued. “I don’t know what her issue is, I never have.”

As previously reported, Parker, 52, confirmed on Thursday, September 28, that the project had been scrapped. “It’s over. I’m disappointed,” she told Extra. “We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story. It’s not just disappointing that we don’t get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie.”

DailyMailTV reported the same day that Cattrall allegedly gave Warner Bros. an ultimatum, telling the production company that she would only partake in the franchise’s third installment if they produced films she had in development.

Cattrall shot down the claims via Twitter on Friday, September 29, writing, “Woke 2 a @MailOnline [poop emoji] storm! The only ‘DEMAND’ I ever made was that I didn’t want to do a 3rd film …. & that was back in 2016.”

Sex and the City alum Willie Garson also weighed in on the reports, retweeting a Daily Mail article on Friday that claimed Cattrall’s “outrageous demands” caused Warner Bros. to press pause on the film weeks before production was set to begin.

“Disappointed for all crew holding on for negotiations to conclude for their jobs, and of course, for the fans,” Garson, 53, added in another post. “Leave it at that. #Truth.”

Rapper Tech N9ne Sues Record Company for Ripping Off His ‘Strange Music’ Label

Tech N9ne

Nothing Strange Here …

My Company Name Got Ripped Off!!!

10/3/2017 4:09 PM PDT

Hip-hop artist Tech N9ne is adamant — there is no I in “Strange” … no matter what a rival record company wants you to think.

According to a new lawsuit …. the “Caribou Lou” rapper’s independent record label, Strange Music — founded with his business partner in 1999 — is being ripped off by another label that popped up in 2016 with a strikingly similar name — Strainge Entertainment.

According to the docs … Strainge was created under the umbrella of Universal Music Group to cause confusion with hip-hop fans and undermine the years of hard work done by Tech N9ne and Strange Music.

Tech claims consumers constantly get Strange Music’s artists mixed up with the Strainge label on social media due to Strainge’s intentional marketing deception … and it’s hurting his brand.

Strange Music is suing Strainge for trademark infringement, and wants the label to change its name and destroy everything with Strainge on it. Tech N9ne also wants any profits Strainge has made off the name.

We reached out to Strainge … no word back.

Sam Smith Kisses ’13 Reasons Why’ Star Brandon Flynn

Sam Smith has a new man! The singer, 25, was recently spotted kissing 13 Reasons Why star Brandon Flynn in NYC’s Greenwich Village neighborhood, as seen in photos obtained by TMZ.

A source tells Us that the duo, who have started seeing each other fairly recently, are not hiding their budding romance. “Obviously, they haven’t publicized their relationship on their social media accounts,” says the insider. “But they also aren’t afraid to show some PDA.”

While the two have kept their relationship relatively under wraps, they have been liking several of each other’s Instagram photos in recent weeks.

The singer opened up about his romantic life last month, shortly after the September 8 release of his ballad “Too Good at Goodbyes,” and explained that he was very much on the market. “I’m still very, very single. I think I’m even more single than I was when I released [my first album] In the Lonely Hour, so I’m insanely single,” he said during an interview with Beats 1 host Zane Lowe. “People are gonna see, this one as I’ve said, is about me and something that I’ve gone through.”

Days later, Smith explained how his new album will reflect his love life differently than his previous one. “The first album was about one emotion, one guy,” he told 104.3 MYfm on September 12. “This album is about many guys. I’m joking!”

The “Stay With Me” singer went on to explain that he is holding out for a powerful romance, which is why he stays off of dating apps. “I’m a massive romantic. I want that La La Land meet,” he said at the time. “I’m in a good place in that sense at the moment. I’m really happy and single for the first time.”

Smith added: “At the moment, I have a really good relationship with myself, which I haven’t for as long as I can remember. So it’s really good.”

‘Fixer Upper’ Was Presenting a ‘Security Issue’ for Chip, Joanna Gaines

No kidding around! For Chip and Joanna Gaines, their family comes first — even if it means disappointing fans. A source tells Us Weekly that there were a number of reasons they decided to pull the plug on their hit HGTV show, Fixer Upper, but a big factor was the safety of their kids.

Though they’ve tried to keep their brood out of the spotlight, “people drive by and like to take pictures in front of their house,” which presents a security issue for the parents of four (Drake, 12, Ella, 10, Duke, 9, and Emmie, 7). “I think they just want to take a step back from it.”

The couple, wed since 2003, felt the break was a long time coming for professional reasons. In the past four years, they’ve been increasingly stretched thin. In a September 26 post on their Magnolia Market blog, the Waco, Texas-based entrepreneurs wrote that they planned “to take this time to shore up and strengthen the spots that are weak, rest the places that are tired and give lots of love and attention to both our family and our businesses.”

So between their growing empire and their family, the husband and wife team announced the fifth season of their home renovation show will be its last. Fighting off rumors of bogus projects (she’s not launching a skincare line) and marital discord, they wrote that the decision stemmed from “us recognizing that we need to catch our breath for a moment.”

In the early days of their marriage, the general contractor, 42, and the interior designer, 39, were focused on one business: Magnolia Market, a small retail store they’d opened in 2003. After they welcomed their first two children, they shuttered the shop to concentrate on their growing family. Gradually, they began to devote more time to Magnolia Homes, their construction business, which caught HGTV’s attention in 2012.

Since then, the Gaineses have reopened the market in a 20,000-square-foot former grain barn (adding a food truck park and a bakery to the grounds) that draws an estimated 40,000 people each week. They’ve also written two books, launched a quarterly journal and plan to open a restaurant, Magnolia Table, by year’s end.

Maintaining a solid relationship also ranks high on their priority list. The conservative Christian spouses may have noted the toll reality-TV fame took on other families. Speculating they don’t want to face the same fate as fellow HGTV duo Tarek and Christina El Moussa, who split last year, one fan offers a hopeful note, “Chip said on Good Morning America that they’ll come back. They’re just taking a few years to raise their kids.”

Naya Rivera Calls Off Divorce from Ryan Dorsey

Thinking twice. Naya Rivera is calling off her divorce from her estranged husband, Ryan Dorsey, Us Weekly can confirm.

The Glee alum, 30, dismissed her divorce filing from the Blood Father actor, 34, in court documents last week.

As previously reported, the duo split in November 2016 after two years of marriage. The Devious Maids star filed divorce documents at the Los Angeles County Court and requested primary physical custody of the exes’ 2-year-old son, Josey, with visitation rights for Dorsey.

“After much consideration, we have made the decision to end our marriage,” the former couple told Us Weekly in a joint statement at the time. “Our priority is and always will be our beautiful son that we share together. We will continue to be great co-parenting partners for him. We ask for respect and privacy for our family during this difficult time.”

Rivera and Dorsey quietly married in July 2014 after three months of dating and welcomed Josey in September 2015.

“Naya didn’t tell most of her friends that she was marrying Ryan Dorsey, let alone that she was dating him,” a source told Us of their discreet nuptials at the time. “The whole thing is a complete surprise.”

Since splitting from Dorsey, the At the Devil’s Door star briefly dated David Spade, although the duo may have split in June. The Grown Ups actor was seen spending time at the Sunset Tower at the time with a group of women and eyewitnesses told Us that Rivera was nowhere to be seen.
